A group of people gathered close together, comforting an elderly woman in the center. The woman is wearing a floral patterned dress and a beige baseball cap. The group appears to be in an indoor setting with a plain wall and exposed ceiling beams.

PRAYER MINISTRY TEAM

We also have a team of vetted and trained altar call prayer ministers. These are people who have been trained and appointed by the pastors to be available for prayer before and after Sunday service. If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry contact Maria Storck or Jan Orange. Training will be provided for those who meet certain criteria such as regular attendance at the 4th Saturday prayer meetings for three months and approval by pastors.

Nothing happens for the Kingdom of God without prayer, therefore, prayer at The Shepherd’s House is our priority. There are several kinds of prayer so it is wise to know the Kingdom rules over each kind of prayer. There is the prayer of worship and praise. There is the prayer of thanksgiving. There is the prayer of confession and repentance. There is the prayer of petition. There is the prayer of intercession. There is prayer of consecration and dedication. There is the prayer of faith. There is the prayer of agreement. There is praying in the Spirit.   All prayer is directed to Father God for His glory and in the Name of Jesus.  Many times we combine them all together into a single prayer session, which can lead to confusion. For example, the prayer of consecration and dedication is setting one’s self apart for a specific kingdom purpose. Like Jesus in Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed “if it be Your will….nevertheless not My will but Your will be done.” You would not pray “if it be Your will to heal or save a person because it’s always the Father’s will to save, heal, deliver and make whole because of Jesus’s atoning sacrifice.

Prayer Ministry

Open Prayer Groups

At the Shepherd’s House we have Open Prayer before every Wednesday evening service at 6:15 PM. Our focus is mainly praise, worship and thanksgiving but we also pray for specific petitions and share brief personal testimonies.

In addition, we set aside the fourth Saturday of every month from 10:00AM-NOON to pray as the Holy Spirit leads. Prayer members are in daily contact with Holy Spirit and He speaks to each one of us. This is a time to share what we are hearing, share brief testimonies and pray the prayer of agreement and faith. Everyone is welcome to participate in these times of Open Prayer.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry Guidelines

The tone for every service and activity at The Shepherd’s House is set by these three areas:

  1. Pastors Rich and Dorothy

  2. The Shepherd’s House leadership, and ministries

  3. The Praise and Worship Team

All these areas work in unison, submitted to Christ so that no one receives the glory or honor other than Jesus. The Intercessory Ministry team is here to seek the face of our Father, listen for the voice of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit be obedient to what we hear and communicate with leadership.

In order for us to be effective in our witness for Christ, we must believe in the Vision for The Shepherd’s House as given to Pastor Rich over 40 years ago. We must know our mission in attaining the fullness of the Vision and perform our roles in our mission with humility, in the Fear of the Lord and integrity.

It is useful to have guidelines so you will know if you are called to the Intercessory Prayer Team.  Everyone is called to prayer but not everyone is called as an intercessor. We will follow these guidelines:

  • No personal testimonies or personal prayer requests and no theology discussions, we are to pray only the Word of God. This small amount of time before the service is to focus on the three areas set out above. Personal testimonies and prayer requests can be accomplished in the sanctuary. We are also available for prayer after the service to meet these needs.

  • Intercessors are by invitation only. Maria Storck and Jan Orange have been given authority to lead the team by Pastors Rich and Mike. If you come into the prayer room during this time, you are under their authority as they are submitted to the Holy Spirit.

  • It is their responsibility to watch over the team and protect our time together. As such that means we need to come into the prayer room, on time, prayed up, and ready to flow.  What we mean by coming in prayed up I Timothy 2:1-3 says, “First of all, I urge that requests, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all the people, for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wants all people to be saved.” It pleases Father God that we come prepared (prayed up) as prayer leaders. We do the “first of all” before we arrive.

  • Before we make any requests to our Father, we need to just praise Him for Who He is.  We seek His face not His hands. We need to thank Jesus for what He has already done, what He is doing and what He is planning for us. We need to thank Holy Spirit that He provides all the power we need to accomplish the will of the Father and Son. We may pray in the Spirit, we may pray with understanding, we may sing in the Spirit or we may just sit quietly and marvel at His Majesty. Pat Allen called this a “holy hush”.

  • We have called a fast for one day every week, Wednesday, for the whole year of 2026.  We are not just fasting one or more meals during that day, but we are praying to hear what the Father has planned for us, what Jesus is interceding for us and what Holy Spirit is empowering us to accomplish.  We need to be faithful in this weekly commitment to hearing from the Lord.

  • Pat and Ron Allen set a time to meet for an extended amount of time (10:00-12:00) every 4th Saturday of the month.  We intend to continue this practice and it is expected that intercessors make every effort to attend.  It is during this time we can:

    • sing praises and worship; linger in His Presence

    • set priorities for coming month

    • celebrate victories from previous month(s)

    • pray for other areas of concern not just TSH

    • physically walk the property, rooms, ministry areas for increase. Maybe assign an area for each intercessor to pray over during the month.

    • share what Holy Spirit is telling and showing you as you are listening to His voice.

Leadership has promised to share with us the needs of The Shepherd’s House so we can pray in agreement with them. There are major meetings taking place in our facilities and we want Jesus to be exalted in every meeting. There are ministry needs and always prayers for healing, resources and help. Jesus is exalted when needs are met. Pastor Mike has invited us to come into the sanctuary while the Praise and Worship team is practicing and pray over them.

When The Shepherd’s House becomes Kingdom focused instead of church culture focused, we will change our families, our cities and our state. Pray for discernment, humility, integrity and Fear of the Lord then we will change even the world.

SCRIPTURES TO PRAY IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOD’S WILL

God wants us to pray to Him. He loves it when we communicate with Him through the day. There are times when family and friends request our prayers for a need. Sometimes we have our own need. When we pray to our Heavenly Father and claim His promises for our petition, we are assured of an answer (1John5:14,15). God tells us to be specific in our prayers. Which promise do we claim? Where in God’s Word do we find these promises? The list below can help us be specific in our requests and lead us to search more of His Word so that our prayers get the results that God desires.

Two main groups are represented; Emotional Healings and Physical Healings. If we are praying for someone experiencing depression, the subtitle under Emotional Healings directs us to Isaiah 61:3, Psalm 107:13,14 and more references are provided. Pray these verses specifically for the need. Remember, if whatever we are praying about is in the Word, then it is the will of God. His Word never returns void. (Isaiah 55:11).

Under the Physical Healing group, there are scriptures for healing in our physical body but also for our physical surroundings. Protection from spiders and scorpions; rain; help for elderly and multiple scriptures for specific healings in our bodies like acne; arthritis; ulcers; teeth; and many more. This list is not exhaustive but gives us a place to start seeking God’s Word and finding His promise for us to pray (Matthew 7:7,8). We are reminded that all our prayers are to bring glory to our Heavenly Father (John 5:30,44; 6:38). As we desire only to bring glory to His name, everything we need will be added (Matthew 6:33). James 4:3 tells us when a prayer doesn’t get an answer it could be because the reason we ask is wrong. Let’s do all things, especially prayer, to the glory of God (1Corinthians 10:31). Search the Word and find scriptures that meet your specific need.
